About Sport Pilot

*** Please Note: The term "sport pilot" is very different from the term "recreational pilot".  ***

They do not mean the same thing.  To understand the differences between the two licences, you will need to read about both of them.  This section is about the "sport pilot" license.  If you are interested in the "recreational pilot" license, click here:

Sport Pilot

Late in 2004 the FAA released a new rule allowing less restrictions for anyone wishing to become certified for flying smaller and generally slower aircraft than the traditional ones being used for the private or recreational pilot licenses.  These new aircraft are called "light sport aircraft" and the basic license to fly them is called the "sport pilot" license.   The final stages of qualifying aircraft and pilot examiners for this new license have recently been completed, and we are pleased to offer accelerated sport pilot training courses to those who are interested.

This new rating is perfect for those of you who want to simply fly for the fun of it.

The required investment is much less than our other courses, and they take a fraction of the time normally needed as well.  Due to the limited number of pilot examiners, however, we are currently offering this training only at certain specific locations.
